Sherman's Neckties, ca. 1864
Title
Sherman's Neckties, ca. 1864
Description
The image is of Sherman's men destroying a portion of a railroad in Atlanta, before marching towards Savannah. The name "Sherman's neckties," came from how the men bent the steel so that it could not be used again by the South. The bent steel resembled the shape of a necktie.
