Title
"If the Union has prevailed..." Raleigh Weekly Standard, March 6, 1861
Description
In its March 6, 1861 edition the Raleigh Weekly Standard, a Unionist Newspaper, reported on the Convention vote and its meaning in this article. The paper makes its views known that the Secessionist faction is a vocal minority in North Carolina, and the vote against the convention is proof. The paper hailed the Unionists for working tirelessly against the efforts of Secessionist politicians and agitators. With the Secession Convention having been defeated by a vote of the people, the paper hopes that Secessionist politicians will finally take note of the will of the people and act accordingly.
