Born in Los Angeles and moved to North Carolina to finish my bachelor's in history, I am interested in promoting and elevating the status of history in the American culture and to help future generations to better understand their place and direction in life through a better understanding of history.

It is tragic that the Civil War era is used to promote harmful divisions since it prevents us as a nation to gaining a full understanding of the war as it truly is: a complex, a layered crisis that involves much time and attention in order to gain a full grasp of the situation. While not a war caused strictly by state's rights, it is not a war that was fought entirely to free slaves from their oppressed situations. And the move to use either side of the argument in order to promote a political or a social ideology does little to help promote a healthy discussion about the era, nor does it allow for future generations to gain an interest in the events without already having their opinions set. All sides and all stories should be taken into account to gain a full understanding of the war in order to truly move on from what happened.
