In this article published by the Unionist Raleigh newspaper the Weekly Standard, the paper urges its readers to head to the polls to vote against the Secession Convention on February 28, 1861. The paper states clearly their position that they were for the Union and although the Secessionists were making strong efforts to commit Wake County to disunion, it was up to the Union men of the county to get out and vote on the 28th in order to preserve the Union and defeat the Secessionists. The article was a strong motivational piece to get out the vote among Unionists in Wake county.
