Introduction

The causes leading to the Confederate surrender to the Union to end the Civil War is a hotly debated topic explained by many differing opinions. This exhibit focuses on the fall of Fort Fisher, the Confederate port charged with guarding the port at Wilmington, the last remaining lifeline of the Confederacy, and it's significance to the conclusion of the war by using primary sources from newspaper articles as well as scholarly secondary sources.
